It’s by Tsu (swanblood.tumblr.com), I’m SBing because it is needed very much.

From the article:

The transgender  community cried for help and, after a long time, the medical community finally listened, not based on medical studies but based on the deep pain that these people express. Now we are just asking for that same respect.

We do understand that a nonhuman identity “sounds strange”, but this is our real experience. We do not know how or why. We just tell as we feel.

While mildly inaccurate wherein it presupposes that “the medical community” (as a whole) is really “listening” to trans people… this really resonates with me.

I don’t “get” otherkin. I’ve read this article, I’ve spent hours on otherkin sites and blogs, I know someone who is/maybe is (?) otherkin and we’ve talked a bit about his experience, and I still don’t get it.

But I don’t have to.

That quote above? That is why I dislike it when people are hostile to otherkin, that is why I will stand beside otherkin and defend their right to their identities, that is why I wince and cringe when other people (many of whom are trans or trans allies) say they’re “appropriating” our pain and “mocking us” by “comparing their bizarre delusions with our real pain…”

I’m going to say that I believe that these peoples’ pain is real. Why the hell would they make that up?

Almost every single argument I hear against this identity is one that I have heard against my own. It’s weird, it’s unnatural, you can’t prove it, I don’t believe you, you’re just delusional, you’ll grow out of it, you’re just trying to be a special snowflake.

And it fucking sucks. It really hurts. Having other people define you, laugh at you - even just not seeing you how you see yourself - it’s painful.

No, this ‘nonhuman’ thing doesn’t make any sense to me. “Sounds strange to me” is an understatement. But I can name a few widely-accepted identities that are, for a lot of the same reasons, equally as “strange” and nonsensical and confusing to me, such as “Christian.”

And it’s not like they’re hurting anyone.

Also from the article:

You don’t have to understand. Just, please, listen to us.

Let’s have some fucking compassion, people.

(And seriously, read the article, it’s good.)

Thank you, very much. Very good points.
